FIREFIGHTING FUNDRAISERS

We are a group of individuals that all love what we do! With us all being Firefighters we all have a common interest in helping people and making a difference to individuals and the community as a whole. Part of our job entails keeping ourselves in good physical condition so we are always prepared to meet the demands of our dynamic profession. This is really where the Firefighting Fundraisers was born! Could we use our desire to help people along with our love of physical fitness to make a difference? We believe that we can! We support a number of charities that are very close to our hearts and we want to do our very small part in making those who's lives are affected just that little bit easier. Please have a look through our website to see the charities that we support and the events that we have coming up.

The firefighter Fundraisers were created out of a passion for fundraising, combined with unique and challenging events. Fire service personnel come together throughout the year to take part and fund raise for charities and foundations. The FF Fundraisers main website can be found here where upcoming and past events can be viewed.

On September 11, 2001, Firefighter Stephen Gerard Siller, who was assigned to Brooklyn’s Squad 1, had just finished his shift and was on his way to play golf with his brothers when he got word over his scanner of a plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Upon hearing the news, Stephen called his wife Sally and asked her to tell his brothers he would catch up with them later. He returned to Squad 1 to get his gear.

Stephen drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed for security purposes. Determined to carry out his duty, he strapped 60 lbs. of gear to his back, and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others. From this, Stephens family set up The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which honors the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001.They also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.

We are now proud to have partnered with the New York Stephen Sillers foundation to bring you ‘Tunnel 2 Towers WALES’ which will honour our emergency services, first responders and military, who risk their lives on a daily basis.
